How to Make Pretty Lavender Stems with Beads

I am one of those people who looove Lavender ♥
I love the look, the colour and most of all the smell.  Oh the smell.  I could drink that smell up I love it so much.

I have a lot of dried Lavender in my house but I wanted to have some Lavender stems to decorate with.

Here is an easy way to make DIY Lavender stems.  twigs, purple glitter and purple beadsStart with some twigs from a local tree, a cup full of [easyazon_link identifier=”B00WNUB81U” locale=”US” tag=”recredesig20-20″]small purple beads[/easyazon_link] and a little [easyazon_link identifier=”B009CFZUEK” locale=”US” tag=”recredesig20-20″]purple glitter[/easyazon_link]. an old mason jarYou will also need an old canning jar to display them when you are done.  I painted mine white with [easyazon_link identifier=”B0035YI7OY” locale=”US” tag=”recredesig20-20″]General Finishes Snow White Milk Paint[/easyazon_link]. mixing two shades of green Fusion Mineral PaintTo make the twigs look more like Lavender stalks, I painted mine a pale, mossy green.  I mixed 3 parts [easyazon_link identifier=”B00O2JNZ5C” locale=”US” tag=”recredesig20-20″]Fusion Mineral Paint in Inglenook[/easyazon_link] with 1 part [easyazon_link identifier=”B01M0DDHUY” locale=”US” tag=”recredesig20-20″]Bayberry[/easyazon_link].  a custom mix of green paint used to paint sticksOnce the paint was mixed, it was a nice creamy, pale green with a hint of moss.  a handful of twigs painted green with Fusion Mineral Paint in Bayberry and InglenookPaint up as many twigs as you would like to make. covering the end of a painted stick with hot glueHolding one of the twigs, cover the end with [easyazon_link identifier=”B01178RVI2″ locale=”US” tag=”recredesig20-20″]hot glue from a glue gun[/easyazon_link].  Be careful not to get any on you!!dipping a painted twigs into a bowl of purple beads and glitterSprinkle some of the glitter on top of the beads and then dip the twig in.  Gently push the beads into the glue to make sure they are all stuck in place.  drying hot glue and beads on painted twigsStand the stems up in your Mason or canning jar to dry.    purple beads dried in hot glue to make gorgeous lavender stemsOnce the hot glue hardens, the beads should be held firmly in place creating the spike.  When all of the glue is dry, arrange your flowers in the mason jar and use to add some rustic beauty to your space.beautiful diy lavender stems in reclaimed jar
