Beautify Your Wall for Summer with a Whimsical Bug

I love blue and white.  It is definitely my colour scheme of choice and always has been.  There is something so clean, crisp and calming about those colours when they are paired together.vintage finds ready to by turned into a summer DIY projectI found this roll of vintage wallpaper last year and instantly loved the pretty, clean design.  It was free, so it was a no brainer to grab it up and stash it away until I needed it.

With summer fast approaching, I wanted to make something new to go on the old screen window I salvaged a couple of years ago.   I thought of the beautiful blue and white striped wallpaper and how perfect it would be for the wings of a rustic bug.

Making the rustic bug…

A dab of hot glue inside the top of the spindle held them in place and   attaching raffia to the end of a vintage spindlethe bottom of the spindle got a little bundle of raffia.  a vintage spindle painted with Fusion Mineral Paint in Casement and distressedan upcycled, rustic bug for summerThis little whimsical dragonfly (or butterfly… your choice) is perfect as wall art.  a reclaimed spindle turned bugAnd… against my old screen window… just makes me smile. vintage finds turned into a summer bug
