This small round side table was such a fun blank slate! The table itself was in great condition when it was given to me and was solid wood so I wanted to do something fun with this one.I have been in a lovely yellow phase lately and am loving all of the wonderful shades of yellow around this year. I thought this table could use a little summer sunshine so decided to use some yellow and white paint to cheer it up.
I painted the entire table in Pure White Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan to begin with and then used Arles, both straight up and mixed with the Pure White, to create a whimsical flower on the table top.
To create the layered petals, I alternated Arles and Arles mixed with the Pure White turning the table as I went. One stroke of the paint brush was one petal.
I let each layer of petals dry before working on the next layer to avoid too much paint mixing and blurring of the petal lines.
As the layers began to dry on top of each other, they began to develop this lovely texture that added to the beauty of the flower.
When it was done, I ran sand paper over the entire flower to smooth it out and then finished the entire table off with some distressing and a coat of hemp oil.
I absolutely love how fun this table looks now and so am happy to be able to add a little bit of sunshine to an otherwise boring, little table π
What have you done to add some summer sunshine to your life this summer?
Lisa, this table is so cute! I can’t believe how much hard work you put into the top of this – it’s like a totally different table now. Great job lady! Hope your day was fantastic, Coco
Thanks Coco! It was a fun one to do and it is now sitting on the porch at our cottage which seems a perfect place for it to be π
Lisa, I love how you recreated this little table! The flower you painted and the yellow make it look so cheery and bright! Thanks so much for sharing on Dream. Create. Inspire. Link. Hope you had a great holiday weekend!
Thanks so much Tara and thanks for stopping by π
