I found this little retro cabinet for $5 at a thrift store and thought it would be the perfect little piece to play with the Country Chic Glaze. The cabinet was not solid wood so I wasn’t worried about experimenting with the glaze. The basket weave on the doors was just begging for some paint and highlighting to make it pop and the glaze would be perfect to do that. 
Before using the glaze, I gave the outside two coats of Country Chic Paint in Driftwood; a gorgeous neutral from their Spring/Summer collection).
Once the paint was completely dry, I used a thin chip brush to lightly brush the glaze in Smoky Quartz all over the piece.
The bristles on the chip brush were very stringy and this helped to create lines that looked like wood grain on the top and sides. Chip brushes are not normally great for painting because of their thin, cheap bristles but, for the glaze, it was the exact texture needed to pull the glaze along. 
I also used a soft, cotton cloth to wipe the glaze down on the basket weave and make sure it got into all of the nooks and crannies to highlight them. The glaze was very easy to apply and the translucent nature of the gave the perfect illusion of texture and depth.
To finish the piece off and add some contract, I painted the inside and legs in Chocolate Tart; a rich, creamy brown colour… All I have to say is “Yum”! 
This little retro cabinet is all ready to go now and will be perfect for storage in a little space. I will definitely be using this glaze again as I loved how the chip brush and glaze worked together to create the illusion of wood grain. So pretty!
