I love Canada! I honestly couldn’t ask for a better country to live in.
This year, Canada is celebrating its 150th Birthday and everyone is crazy excited!
Canada is not a terribly old country but it is filled with warm people, gorgeous landscapes and a rich history. 
A few months ago I was asked to create a piece of furniture that represented Canada for an exhibit. I was given free rein on the design as long as it celebrated Canada. 
Right away I had a vision in mind and began hunting for the perfect piece to recreate.
I went out hunting and found this beauty. (you can see what else I found on that trip here…)
The height and style were perfect for what I had in mind. 
Canada is overflowing with beautiful, green forests and since I am an outdoor lover, I wanted my piece to represent those breathtaking trees. 
Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint was my choice right from the beginning to paint the dresser. It’s unpredictability and chippiness would give my vision the worn, aged looked I wanted.
With Luckett’s Green as the backdrop, I used a Royal Design Studio stencil called Timberland to create the forest of trees. 
Layla’s Mint and Boxwood helped make the perfect trees. 
The drawers were all painted in Curio to give the appearance of a dark, rich wood inside. 
And new wrought iron handles were added and painted so that they blend right in. 
I couldn’t be happier with how this piece turned out.
I hope it represents the abundance of green forests we have in Canada and Canadians love for the outdoors.

I don’t have a lot of green in my home but I am loving it on this piece… I just may start using them more 😉
