Bonjour! This past weekend I shared a couple of pictures (on Instagram) while I was in Quebec City and promised you more.
I was there for a few days to visit the German Christmas Market and Old Quebec City. Old Quebec City is absolutely gorgeous with its stone buildings and cobblestone streets. It is the oldest part of Canada and I can’t wait to take you on a tour next week.
Today though I wanted to show you the German Christmas Market. This is the 10th year for the Market in Old Quebec City and it is such a fun event. It isn’t as big as most of the European Christmas markets but it is still as charming and as quaint as the original ones. 
You can see part of the market in this gorgeous, hand-carved wooden sign. It was a piece of art itself even though it was a map! 
The market started with this huge wood and metal Christmas tree. Each layer moved with the wind and sometimes it looked like this and sometimes it was flat with all of the pieces together. It was incredible to watch. 
There was lush greenery everywhere. The vendors really went all out to make the market look like you stepped into a forest at Christmas. 
Keeping with the tradition of Christmas markets in Europe, all of the kiosks were wooden. They were so pretty and reminiscent of the original markets that you felt like you had stepped off a plane in Germany. 
The booths were filled with handcrafted wares, beautiful ornaments and yummy treats. 
The market really was a treat for all of the senses! 
And, of course, the visit would not have been complete without a steaming cup of Chocolat Chaud with real whipped cream on top! Sooo yummy! 
I have longed to visit the Christmas markets in Europe for quite some time and this was the perfect substitute until I can get over to see the original ones.
Next week I will take you on a little tour of Old Quebec City… the beauty of this 400 year old area of Canada is breathtaking.
