With so much closed this summer I didn’t get to the dump reuse centres or flea markets as much as I usually do. I also didn’t get a chance to share a few of the things I did when I got out.
None of my finds this summer were very amazing… they were more parts of a bigger picture (except this one!) In and of themselves they don’t seem like much, but a few random things have ways of coming together and making something new and beautiful.
Bits and Pieces
These bits and pieces came from the dump reuse centre when it opened back up. As you can see, they were very dirty but they cleaned up beautifully. Alone they aren’t much but together they will make a beautiful cake stand.
A stack of old frames that came from a few different places. I just need one more and they will be turned into a cool glass church.
I am still not sure what I am going to do with these carved wood pieces but I knew when I saw them that they would come in handy for something.
Home Decor
I also found a few pieces that will work for layering and adding to my decor. This little green birdcage is so cute and even open. A little paint and it will be perfect.
This was something else I loved as soon as I saw it. It was only $5 so how could I go home without it? I still haven’t figured out where to put it (or whether to paint it or not) but I know it will find its perfect place.
Art Work
I also found two beautiful pieces of art for my gallery wall. This first one was painted on a piece of wood and fits right in with my forest/nature collection of art.
I find this piece even more special because of the inscription on the back. I can just imagine someone sitting on a hill or trail painting while they looked at this beautiful scene.
And my very favourite find… a new-to-me vintage paint-by-number. I absolutely adore these colourful old paintings and the subject matter of this one couldn’t have been more perfect. I spent several weeks photographing old churches this summer so to find this seemed extra special.
Did you find any great vintage pieces this summer? (Or maybe some random bits that need a new life as something else?)
Those paintings and the clock? I would have come home with them as well – what a find! Good on you!
Bev.
Thanks so much Bev! I was excited to find at least a few things this summer 🙂 I hope you had a wonderful summer despite it being so unusual!
