Recognizing the moms in our lives is a wonderful tradition we have the honour of celebrating each Spring. These women give tirelessly of themselves to make our lives better on a daily basis. Let’s show them how much we care and appreciate all they do with something made with love.
This special piece of art can be made in an afternoon and uses things you probably already have on hand. You will just need a stash of buttons, an old frame, and some burlap.
The Background
Start your gift by removing the glass and backing from an old frame. Cut a piece of cardboard the size of the frame and wrap it in burlap.
Give the frame a coat of white paint and then place the burlap-covered cardboard into it. Secure any loose burlap ends with hot glue.
Your Masterpiece
Using small white, clear, and/or ivory buttons, begin spelling out the word Love leaving a blank spot where the letter o will go. Try and use only flat buttons as they will lay much better on the burlap.
Once you have laid the letters out in a way you like, add a dab of hot glue to the back of each one to secure them in place.
Finish the piece off by making it extra special with a meaningful piece of faux jewellery. Attach the treasured piece in place of the letter o with or without a button behind it.
I hope this gives you a fun idea for something special you can make for those you are celebrating this Mother’s Day!
